Bosphorus Model United Nations Conference '23

On behalf of GO Academy Family, it is an utmost privilege and pleasure to welcome you all to the fourth annual session of Bosphorus Model United Nations Conference. The fourth edition of Bosphorus MUN will be held in the cultural, historical and economic center of Turkey; the city of Istanbul between 14th and 16th of January 2023. Connecting two continents with the Bosphorus Straits, İstanbul is a city of diversity and multiculturalism which makes it just the right spot to simulate United Nations.

In our fifth year, we are dedicated to present you a conference that outscores all other MUN conferences. With that goal in mind, we have been working to excel the academic and organizational quality through careful planning, training and execution. This year we will host three committees for our junior participants that will focus on some of the most pressing issues that our world faces. This year we have decided to broaden our horizons and prepared exciting committees and topics for you. Delegates of the Council of Europe will focus on Determining Council’s Priorities in Assistance for Ukraine, while delegates appointed to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will discuss Prevention and Suppression of Piracy and Armed Robbery Against Maritime Trade. Meanwhile, our special historical committee will be a simulation of Baghdad Pact of 1958 with the topic of Iraqi Coup.

A group of experienced MUN delegates, as well as successful and exemplary individuals who are well-versed in the topics at hand, will lead and monitor your committees and I have full faith in all of our board members to guide you through the rules of procedure so that our delegates can practice negotiation, problem-solving, conflict resolution, critical thinking, diplomacy, and collaboration as they act as world leaders, policymakers, and diplomats. As the Academic Team, we are very excited to hear your take on these crucial agenda items. On that note, we wish you all efficient and beneficial debates.

It is important to note that while MUN conferences aim to familiarize you with the economic, social, political, and environmental problems of our world and enable you to improve skills that will benefit you in the future, these events also present great opportunities for you to have fun, make lots of new friends and memories. Make sure to enjoy yourselves during the coffee breaks, challenges, and social events that our operations team prepared for you. On that note, I want to thank our academic and operations teams for their hard work, dedication, never-ending energy, and work ethic.
